Job summary

Smurfit Westrock in Virginia seeks a Process Control Engineer to provide engineering expertise for implementing and maintaining process control systems, including DCS, PLC and HMI. You will design logic, deploy control solutions, and coordinate upgrades to maximize production ROI while meeting safety and environmental requirements.

The role reports to the Technical Support Manager and involves supporting capital projects, system migrations, and operator training, with weekend/on-call

Qualifications

Five years of industrial experience in DCS, PLC and HMI applications.
Strong knowledge of field instrumentation, control devices, and motor controls.
Experience with paper industry process control preferred.
Ability to drive large scale control system projects from concept to commissioning.

Responsibilities

Provide design, implementation, and support for Process Control systems (DCS, PLC, HMI).
Assist with capital project planning, development and implementation.
Coordinate control logic and system configuration with operations and suppliers.
Lead troubleshooting and training for control system operators.
Maintain mill-wide data historian (OSIsoft Pi) interfaces and hardware.
