Job summary

Smurfit WestRock plc is seeking a Senior IT/OT Systems Engineer to design, implement, and support critical IT/OT infrastructure in a heavy manufacturing setting. You will work on DCS/PLC systems, coordinate with process control engineers, and drive system upgrades while maintaining safety and environmental standards.

The role requires hands-on experience with virtualization, networking, and Windows server environments, along with strong communication skills.

Qualifications

Five+ years of industrial IT/OT experience or 10+ years in enterprise IT with two-year degree or equivalent.
Ability to research new technologies and solve complex problems quickly.
Experience with VMware vSphere 5.5+ and virtualization.
Knowledge of networking concepts, AD, and common IT protocols.
Experience with DCS/PLC environments and industrial hardware.

Responsibilities

Design, implement, and support IT/OT infrastructure for Process Control Systems (DCS/PLC).
Assist capital project planning and system upgrades.
Coordinate requirements with engineers, operations, and suppliers.
Document IT/OT systems and maintain safety standards.
Provide weekend/off-hour support for mill processes and startups.
