Job summary

Merck seeks a Senior Specialist in Process Automation for the West Point site within our Digital Manufacturing Operations. You will lead a two-engineer team delivering automation system support to enable reliable vaccine manufacturing globally.

You will drive SDLC, GMP compliance, and process improvements, collaborating with cross-functional teams and handling audits while advancing digital transformation across the IPT.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Engineering, CS, or related field.
• 7+ years in process automation, IT/OT, or equivalent.
• DeltaV DCS, PLC, SCADA, HMI, CSV, and SDLC knowledge.
• Strong technical writing capabilities.
• Familiarity with GxP requirements and regulatory compliance.
• Experience with equipment and process validation.
• Problem-solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a two-engineer team for process automation support.
• Prioritize workload ensuring SDLC, GMP, safety, and environmental compliance.
• Collaborate across IPT with automated systems ownership and SME input.
• Support manufacturing activities on the shop floor.
• Design and implement process control improvements and corrective actions.
• Troubleshoot automation issues and participate in deviation investigations.
• Maintain automated control systems in a state of Permanent Inspection Readiness.
• Represent automation on the IPT leadership team and communicate with stakeholders.
