Job summary

Merck & Co., Inc. in the United States is seeking a Senior Specialist, Manufacturing Data Engineering & Digital Integration to lead data platform design, integration, and sustainment across GMP operations. You will transform manufacturing, lab, and enterprise data into scalable data products and AI-enabled capabilities.

You will guide cross-functional teams, define data models, and ensure governance and cybersecurity alignment throughout SDLC and validation activities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a quantitative or technical field with 5+ years in data engineering or manufacturing data integration.
• Proven ability to lead technical teams and cross-functional projects.
• Strong Python and SQL; familiarity with R/PowerShell/JavaScript optional.
• Experience with regulated environments, SDLC, data integrity, and cybersecurity.

Responsibilities

• Provide senior technical leadership for data engineering and digital integration in GMP operations.
• Translate complex manufacturing challenges into scalable technical strategies and architectures.
• Lead cross-functional work, mentor engineers, and ensure rigorous delivery.
• Design integrations among MES, SCADA/DCS, LIMS/CDS, ERP, and cloud analytics.
• Develop data pipelines, APIs, and patterns moving data across OT and IT.
• Define data requirements, models, interfaces, and architecture for complex projects.
• Lead diagnostics of data flow issues affecting operations.
• Own end-to-end lifecycle of manufacturing data products from discovery to sustainment.
