Job summary

Merck & Co. seeks a Process Automation Engineer (Senior Specialist, Manufacturing Automation) for its Digital Manufacturing Operations team at the West Point site. You will provide automation system support to enable reliable, compliant vaccine production globally.

Responsibilities include troubleshooting, lifecycle maintenance, SME guidance, SOP reviews, change controls, audits, and on-floor support. Hybrid work is available with aMonday-Friday schedule.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Computer Science or related field.
• Minimum of five years in a manufacturing automation role within a regulated industry.
• Ability to build and maintain relationships with team members and leaders.
• Demonstrated leadership in matrixed organizations.
• Translate manufacturing requirements into automation and digital solutions.
• Strong analytical, problem solving and communication skills.
• Understand leadership principles and maintain integrity and energy.
• Proven writing and verbal communication skills; project management experience.
• Familiarity with system validation and quality management functions.
• Experience with Process Control systems such as DeltaV, Rockwell PLCs, OPC, Modbus/Fieldbus/Profibus.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot automation issues and drive improvements to manufacturing performance.
• Maintain automation systems in cGMP compliance throughout lifecycle.
• Provide SME automation support within production teams.
• Support peers to ensure team success.
• Review automation docs, PMs, and SOPs for GMP compliance.
• Develop corrective actions for investigations related to automation/IT.
• Apply technical knowledge to ensure efficient operation of automated systems.
• Participate in audits and training programs.
• Provide on-floor support for manufacturing activities.
• Generate and implement change controls to meet facility needs.
• Provide on-call support for off-shifts and weekends in rotation.
