Job summary

Open Door Legal is seeking a Senior Probate Attorney in San Francisco to lead the Probate Law Team and advance universal access to civil legal representation. The role focuses on estate planning, probate, trust administration, and elder law, while supervising staff and mentoring volunteers.

You will guide complex cases, develop collaboration with legal and social service partners, and strive for high client satisfaction.

Qualifications

Active California State Bar membership.
Minimum 6 years of relevant professional experience.
At least 2 years probate and elder law experience.
Experience supervising paid staff attorneys.
Strong knowledge of California civil law and civil procedure.
Ability to work with low-income clients with trauma-informed approach.
Willing to work at least three days/week in office.
Comfort with technology and case management systems.

Responsibilities

Direct probate clients and handle complex cases, and conduct intakes in-person and virtually across multiple locations.
Balance individual caseload with growing management responsibilities.
Hire, train, and mentor Probate Team staff and supervise performance.
Develop and maintain relationships with legal service and social service organizations.
Lead knowledge management and create systems/templates to scale quality work.
