Job summary

Open Door Legal seeks a Temporary Probate Attorney to support its Probate Law Team. This remote, part-time, hourly role focuses on estate planning, probate, and elder law for low-income clients in the San Francisco area.

Ideal candidates will have California bar admission, 2+ years of probate/estate experience, and a collaborative, trauma-informed approach to help families stay in their homes with dignity.

Qualifications

• Bar membership in good standing with California State Bar.
• At least two years of relevant professional probate/estate experience.
• Knowledge of California civil law and superior court civil procedure.
• Strong time management to handle fast-paced, high-volume work.
• Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage a full caseload in probate, estate planning, and elder law matters.
• Conduct intake and triage to determine case acceptance.
• Represent clients in San Francisco Superior Court as needed.
• Coordinate with pro bono partners and volunteers on cases.
• Develop relationships with nonprofits and referral partners to support clients.
