Job summary

Wellington Management is seeking an experienced attorney to join the Private Funds Legal Team. TheCounsel will support the strategic development, formation, and ongoing lifecycle of private credit and/or private equity funds, co‑investment programs, evergreen strategies, and related vehicles.

The role collaborates with cross‑functional colleagues to advise on legal and regulatory developments, new business initiatives, and strategic projects across US, Cayman, and Europe domicile structures.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience practicing law at a national law firm or in‑house.
• Experience with private fund formation, investment adviser regulation and federal securities laws.
• Strong counseling skills and judgment, adept at balancing risks and commercial objectives.
• Excellent communication, relationship and influence skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a global, cross‑functional environment.
• Growth mindset and willingness to learn new practice skills.
• Desire to develop and grow contributions of junior professionals.

Responsibilities

• Advise on the formation, operation and governance of private funds and evergreen strategies.
• Counsel business, operational and investment colleagues on platform‑level design and growth.
• Represent the firm in negotiations with fund investors and service providers.
• Manage and collaborate with external counsel and alternative providers.
• Monitor and advise on legal, regulatory, and market developments impacting funds and business.
• Lead or contribute to team projects to enhance fund lifecycle support.
• Advise and collaborate with compliance to develop risk‑based policies and controls.
