Aston Carter is recruiting for a Controller role in a hands-on, Boston-based setting. The position reports to the CFO and covers fund and management company accounting, investor reporting, cap calls, and operational tasks.

The ideal candidate brings 8–15+ years in accounting, with private equity or related industries, and a strong, independent work ethic. Responsibilities include audits, tax, SEC readiness, and special projects while maintaining high attention to detail.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting required; CPA preferred.
• 8-15+ years of experience, mix of public accounting and related industry (private equity, venture capital or private credit).
• Detail-oriented self-starter with independent work style and proactive problem solving.
• Strong communication and writing skills; high attention to detail.

Responsabilités

• Oversee fund and management company accounting and reporting.
• Handle investor and portfolio company reporting, cap calls, distributions, LP requests and side letter management.
• Calculate expense allocations, portfolio company billbacks and partner tracking/reporting.
• Oversee fund audit and tax; support CFO with special projects (fund admin transition, etc.).
• Assist with SEC compliance, documentation and exam prep.
• Support firm operations including website and IT coordination.
