Job summary

The City of Charlotte is seeking a Senior Infrastructure Engineer – Private Cloud & Windows Server to design, implement, and optimize the enterprise private cloud and Windows Server environment. You will administer VMware vSphere, AD, and storage, ensuring high availability and security across mission-critical systems.

Responsibilities include automation with PowerShell, disaster recovery planning, and cross-team collaboration with cybersecurity and networking groups. On-call rotation may apply.

Qualifications

• 5+ years administering enterprise Windows Server environments.
• 5+ years administering enterprise VMware virtualization environments.
• Expert knowledge of VMware vSphere 8.
• Expert knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server.
• Expert knowledge of Active Directory Domain Services.
• Expert knowledge of PowerShell automation.
• Experience with disaster recovery methodologies.
• Experience with enterprise storage platforms.
• Experience with backup and recovery platforms.
• Experience with SAN environments.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, administer, and optimize the City's private cloud and Windows Server environments.
• Lead virtualization, storage, DR planning, and lifecycle management.
• Automate administrative tasks using PowerShell and IaC concepts.
• Provide Tier III/IV support and mentor junior engineers.
• Collaborate with cybersecurity, networking, and application teams.
