Job summary

Material Bank, the world’s largest material marketplace for architecture and design, seeks a senior Privacy & Product Counsel to join our Legal team as the company’s second lawyer. This builder’s role carries ownership across data privacy, product guidance, and commercial partnerships, partnering with Product, Engineering, Design, Marketing, and Sales to move fast with prudent risk management.

Based in the Eastern Timezone with preference for candidates near Boston, NYC, or Boca Raton, you will

Qualifications

• JD from an accredited law school with active U.S. bar membership.
• 5+ years of relevant legal experience, including in-house.
• Strong data privacy and product counseling experience.
• Experience with marketing/consumer protection and contracts.
• Ability to translate complex legal requirements into practical guidance.

Responsibilities

• Lead data privacy strategy and compliance (CCPA, GDPR, others).
• Advise product teams on new products, consent, data collection, and UX.
• Counsel marketing on consumer protection, CAN-SPAM, TCPA, FTC guidance.
• Draft and negotiate customer, vendor, data processing, and partnership agreements.
• Build legal operations, templates, and playbooks; scale with automation.
• Provide guidance on matters outside core areas as needed.
