Job summary

Deepgram is seeking a Privacy Operations Lead to own the operational backbone of our privacy program. You will map data flows and records of processing across hosted, dedicated, and self-hosted deployments, ensuring data residency and retention requirements are met.

This senior IC role translates GDPR/UK GDPR, CCPA/CPRA and AI regulation into concrete engineering requirements, defines privacy controls, and partners with Legal, Security, and Sales Engineering to implement them.

Qualifications

• Substantial experience in privacy operations, legal operations, or technical privacy and compliance.
• Ownership of privacy operational systems at scale: data maps, DSAR workflows, retention processes, or the tooling behind them.
• Fluent reading of architecture diagrams and data flows; ability to audit retention settings and tooling.
• GDPR and CCPA/CPRA experience, with awareness of AI regulation and emerging rules.
• Ability to collaborate with Fortune 500 privacy teams without escalating every question.
• Clear writing for customer, auditor, and internal documents.
• Bias toward automating and documenting work; avoid bottlenecks.
• Comfort with ambiguity and defensible legal/operational decisions.

Responsibilities

• Own privacy risk assessments, DPIAs, and transfer impact assessments end to end.
• Build and maintain data flow maps and records of processing across deployments — including datacenter or region.
• Translate GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA/CPRA and AI regulation into concrete engineering requirements.
• Define privacy requirements for product and infrastructure changes — retention, logging, and telemetry.
• Own the operating model for privacy controls: retention/deletion enforcement, DSAR and consent handling.
• Design and run operational auditing and remediation workflows to catch drift.
• Own subprocessor and vendor privacy review processes and DPAs.
• Own privacy enablement: playbooks, self-service guidance, and training for Engineering, Support, and GTM.
• Partner with Legal on DPAs, SCCs, transfer mechanisms, and residency commitments.
• Partner with Security to reuse privacy/ security evidence (SOC 2, ISO 27001, PCI DSS).
