Job summary

Capital One is seeking a Compliance Privacy Director to lead the Privacy team supporting the Auto business, overseeing privacy risk and regulatory compliance across federal and state laws. You will translate complex requirements into practical controls and enable the business while protecting customer data.

The role requires strong judgment, stakeholder influence, and experience in privacy, risk management, and audits within financial services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or military experience.
• 8+ years in privacy/compliance/risk/audit.
• J.D. or Master’s degree preferred.
• 9+ years in privacy, compliance or audit at financial institutions.
• 3+ years in strategic consulting.
• 3+ years of people management.
• CIPP/CRP/CRCM certification.

Responsibilities

• Analyze business initiatives to ensure privacy law compliance.
• Provide risk-balanced compliance advice to the business.
• Maintain expert knowledge of applicable privacy laws and updates.
• Interact with partners to influence processes, procedures, and controls.
• Assess remediation of breakdowns or findings including consumer complaints.
• Engage with department colleagues and testing teams.
• Identify trends in compliance data and advise on risks.
