Qualifications

• Effective communication skills (written and verbal) with the healthcare team.
• High attention to detail, self-directed and positive attitude are essential.
• Effective problem solving and critical thinking skills.
• Typing or data entry competency of at least 40 words/minute.
• Cash handling and balancing experience is preferred.
• Demonstrated professionalism and active listening skills.
• Working knowledge of patient registration systems and MS Office is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Secure accounts by verifying insurance eligibility and benefits and initiating prior authorization with payers.
• Coordinate with physicians, nurses and staff to resolve issues in the prior authorization process.
• Support Pre-Registration including preparing patient estimates when needed.
• Maintain productivity and meet goals in a fast-paced environment.
• Document thoroughly and maintain authorization records and trails.
• Escalate delayed or denied authorizations for resolution.
• Assist with scheduling, pre-admission, Medicaid screening and pre-certifications as required.
