Job summary

American Honda Motor Company, Inc. is seeking a senior engineering leader to establish and grow a U.S. space-focused organization. The role will transfer critical technologies from Japan, build capabilities, and implement robust processes to achieve space-qualified development.

The position requires directing multi-disciplinary teams, ensuring safety, mission assurance, and regulatory compliance, and coordinating with national space programs. Onsite work with potential limited remote days.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (e.g. Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, Systems Engineering)
• Around 10 years of relevant experience in aerospace or space systems development
• Experience leading systems engineering activities in space programs
• Familiarity with NASA or US space industry development and program approval processes

Responsibilities

• Serve as technical leader aligning engineering activities with program objectives, customer needs, quality expectations, and long‑term business growth
• Develop, implement, and oversee a Safety & Mission Assurance framework meeting space industry standards
• Identify, establish, and scale U.S. development and testing capability to support model build, testing, and evaluation
• Lead a high‑performing U.S. engineering organization by hiring and mentoring multidisciplinary talent
• Define and continuously improve engineering development processes including systems engineering, configuration management, and design reviews
• Drive transfer of technology and know‑how from Japan to the U.S. ensuring understanding of design intent and integration
