Job summary

Insight Global is seeking a Sr. Principal Software Engineer to lead architecture, development, and delivery of mission-critical software for space systems and national security initiatives.

You will mentor teams, influence engineering strategy, and ensure execution of large programs in a highly collaborative environment. The role requires deep experience across software development, systems architecture, and leadership, with strong skills in Python, C++, CI/CD, and cloud/containers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field or equivalent experience.
• 15+ years of software engineering experience.
• Experience designing, architecting, and implementing complex software systems.
• Embedded software experience (flight, ground ops, simulation) and multiple programming languages.
• Proven experience leading software teams and large-scale initiatives.
• Strong understanding of Agile, Scrum, Kanban methodologies.
• High-level architectural and technical decision-making capability.
• Experience overseeing large, complex programs.
• Excellent problem-solving and stakeholder communication skills.
• Ability to obtain/maintain a Secret U.S. Security Clearance.
• Master's degree or higher in related field.
• Advanced Python and C++ development expertise.
• Kernel-level programming, OS, and performance optimization.
• Scripting in Bash/PowerShell/Perl.
• Infra as Code with Terraform/Ansible/Puppet/Chef.
• CI/CD with Jenkins and automated testing tools.
• Cloud experience (AWS/Azure/GCP).
• Docker and Kubernetes experience.
• MySQL/PostgreSQL/MongoDB experience.
• Networking, cybersecurity, secure coding practices.
• Experience with JIRA/Confluence/GitHub/GitLab/Bitbucket.
• SysML/UML and design patterns.
• Proven track record mentoring engineers and leading enterprise-scale programs.
