Job summary

Umbra seeks a Ground Software Systems Architect to define, design, integrate, validate, and deliver secure, mission-critical ground software for space and national security programs. You will lead architecture for a key customer program in classified environments, coordinating with software, hardware, and government stakeholders.

The role requires deep technical leadership, experience with space-to-ground systems, and proficiency in Python or C/C++.

Qualifications

• Active TS/SCI clearance and ability to maintain access.
• 10+ years in systems/ software/ infrastructure engineering on government or aerospace programs.
• Experience as technical lead or architect delivering ground software with complex interfaces.
• Strong understanding of space-to-ground architectures and classified environments.
• Proficiency in Python or C/C++.

Responsibilities

• Define, design, and deliver secure, mission-critical ground software systems for space, ISR, and national security missions.
• Lead architecture, integration, verification, and deployment across classified computing environments.
• Collaborate with software, hardware, network, cybersecurity, and mission engineering teams and government stakeholders.
• Drive technical strategy, architecture decisions, and customer engagements; present solutions at reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR, ORR).
• Lead cross-functional teams to achieve mission-ready ground capabilities using DevSecOps and IaC.
