Job summary

Medtronic is seeking a Sr. Principal Software Engineer - Core Infrastructure (Python/C++) to set the technical direction for the Prism Mapping platform. You will guide architecture for runtime, IPC, device communication, and system services while collaborating with senior leaders across hardware, systems, and quality to plan multi‑release roadmaps.

You will mentor engineers, promote coding standards, and drive improvements in architecture and development processes in a medical device environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 10+ years of relevant experience or Master’s with 8+ years or PhD with 6+ years.
• Experience with Python and C++ in complex systems.
• Proven track record delivering real‑time, device‑integrated or networked systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead architecture for Prism Mapping platform’s core infrastructure including runtime and IPC.
• Define multi‑release direction for platform scalability and regulatory alignment.
• Set engineering standards for reliability, observability, and performance.
• Lead design and delivery of major subsystems and large technical initiatives.
• Mentor engineers and drive cross‑functional collaboration across teams.
• Shape architectural roadmaps and communicate technical tradeoffs to stakeholders.
