Job summary

Medtronic seeks a Principal Software Engineer - UI/UX (Qt/QML) to set the technical direction for the Prism Mapping UI. You will lead architecture, partner with UX and product, shape multi-release direction, and raise engineering standards in a regulated clinical environment.

You will mentor senior UI engineers, tackle real-time data challenges, GPU rendering, and clinical workflow constraints, delivering fast, clear, and correct user interfaces across releases.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience OR Master’s degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience OR PhD with 3 years relevant experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead architecture for Prism Mapping UI - Qt/QML structure, state management, navigation, theming, accessibility, and performance.
• Define multi-release UI direction in partnership with UX and product.
• Set engineering bar for UI code on clarity, safety, testability, and performance in clinical conditions.
• Lead the design and delivery of major subsystems and cross-cutting architecture initiatives.
• Exercise broad technical judgment in solving complex system and architectural problems with limited oversight.
• Drive technical alignment across software, systems, quality, product, and cross-functional teams.
• Promote software design patterns and development best practices.
• Mentor teams through reviews and guidance on critical engineering decisions.
• Identify improvements in architecture, development processes, and system design.
• Shape the technical roadmap for major subsystems or product capabilities.
• Communicate complex technical tradeoffs and risks to stakeholders.
