Job summary

Raytheon in Tucson, AZ is seeking a Senior RF Engineer to design, develop, and maintain RF architectures for missile guidance systems. You will work with cross‑functional teams and lead architecture decisions.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in STEM with 10+ years of experience, MBSE experience, DoD hardware process knowledge, and the ability to mentor junior engineers while traveling as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in STEM and at least 10 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience with electrical hardware development and subsystem, systems engineering, requirement development and validation.
  • Experience developing RF electrical subsystems.
  • Preferred experience with missile radar and RF seeker subsystems (antennas, analog RF circuit cards, digital circuit cards, configurable logic).
  • Background in detailed design and troubleshooting of RF components.
  • Experience in systems engineering and architecture with potential to grow into guidance section architect.
  • Experience with missiles or similar systems.
  • Knowledge of mixed-signal electronics.
  • Ability to manage cross-functional teams and drive suppliers to meet commitments.
  • Knowledge of DoD/DoW hardware development process and design gates.
  • Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain RF architectures, including requirements, analysis, and modeling.
  • Collaborate with missile level system engineers to develop subsystem requirements and perform evaluation & modeling to decompose requirements for RF sub‑assemblies and component designs.
  • Evaluate hardware designs, subsystems, and components; architect new electronic systems.
  • Develop and document subsystem requirements and test plans.
  • Conduct peer reviews of designs as subject‑matter expert.
  • Present to peers, management, and government customers.
  • Lead root‑cause failure investigations.
  • Mentor junior engineers.
  • Support multiple programs and perform some travel, including foreign travel.
  • Collaborate with functional and program‑level management, customers, and suppliers.

Job Overview

The Advanced Effector Guidance Systems team provides electrical systems engineering to develop missile guidance system hardware, focusing on RF/RADAR, navigation/IMU/GPS, digital, and power technologies.

  • Salary range: $132,400 – $251,600 USD.
