Job summary

Sandia National Laboratories in Albuquerque, NM, seeks a Senior/Principal R&D Computer Science Engineer to join the Space & Flight Systems group. You will develop software and support electronics integration for space-based payloads, leading on embedded systems, edge data processing, and real-time sensor data tasks on a high-performing team.

The role requires onsite work in Albuquerque, with relocation assistance and a clear pathway to DOE Q clearance eligibility.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and five (5) years of directly relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q clearance and possibly SCI clearance (polygraph may be required).
• Experience with object-oriented C++ software development.
• Experience with embedded processors and hardware.
• Experience with Unix/Linux operating environments.
• Experience leading software development teams.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to work in multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop state-of-the-art embedded systems for space-based payloads.
• Lead technical teams and coordinate embedded software, firmware, and hardware integration.
• Perform design, build, test, integration, launch, and operations in a fast-paced environment.
• Contribute to data processing on the edge and real-time sensor data processing.
