Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an AEP Engineering Lead to drive complex, multidisciplinary generation projects through the full lifecycle, from scoping to closeout. You will develop and manage Engineering Work Plans, lead design reviews, and coordinate with internal teams, OEMs, and regulators.

This role requires a PE license or progress toward one, ABET-accredited degree, and 2+ years for SG7, or more for senior levels; travel up to 25% within the footprint is expected.

Qualifications

ABET-accredited engineering degree or qualifying advanced degree.
PE license preferred; registration encouraged for senior roles.
Experience overseeing multi-discipline engineering work is preferred.

Job description

Serve as AEP Engineering Lead for complex, multidisciplinary generation projects across the full project lifecycle
Develop and manage Engineering Work Plans
Lead Engineering Design Reviews and respond to Requests for Information (RFIs)
Coordinate design with AEP engineering, operations, IT/technology teams, developers, architects/engineers, OEMs, and regulatory agencies
Lead, facilitate, and coordinate engineering activities for generation capital projects
Schedule and lead engineering meetings with project stakeholders
Support construction and facilitate project closeout
Provide regular engineering progress updates to project teams and stakeholders
Analyze project options, risks, uncertain inputs, and conflicting interests
Coordinate other engineers and prepare or review complex technical reports
Lead engineering work for generation assets including gas turbine, combined-cycle, solar, wind, BESS, and environmental retrofit projects

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program, or qualifying master's degree/PhD alternatives
Engineer SG7: 2+ years of related engineering experience with a bachelor's degree, or master's degree entry alternative
Engineer Senior SG8: 4+ years of related engineering experience with a bachelor's degree, or 2 years with a master's degree/PhD
Engineer Principal SG9: 8+ years of related engineering experience with a bachelor's degree, or 6 years with a master's degree/PhD
Engineering Technology bachelor's degree requires a certified Professional Engineering (PE) license
PE registration is encouraged/preferred for Senior level and preferred for Principal level unless waived
Mechanical engineering or mechanical engineering technology preferred
Experience overseeing multi-discipline engineering work preferred
Ability to travel 25% outside Ohio within the AEP footprint during construction
Ability to travel to AEP generation facilities, including occasional overnight trips
Must comply with company policies, standards, rules, and applicable regulations

Core Competencies

Demonstrates expertise in leading complex engineering projects across the full project lifecycle, including engineering design, risk analysis, and stakeholder coordination. Proficient in managing engineering work plans and facilitating communication among multidisciplinary teams.
