Job summary

Lumentum Operations LLC in San Jose seeks a Sr. Principal Product Engineer to lead product engineering within the Global Test organization, coordinating with R&D, Manufacturing, Quality, and Operations to drive yield improvements across design and production processes.

The role requires extensive data analytics, DOE/ CpK/SPC knowledge, and leadership of global teams. A senior candidate with 15+ years of experience and travel willingness is preferred.

Qualifications

• Fifteen or more years of experience in product engineering or related field.
• Strong experience with large-scale data analytics and statistical analysis.
• Experience with JMP, SQL, MES; hands-on high-volume optical-component manufacturing.
• Proven yield-improvement, test-time reduction, and manufacturing-process improvement.
• Knowledge of DOE, Cpk, SPC, Gauge R&R, and failure analysis.

Responsibilities

• Lead product engineering for high-volume optical components with cross-functional teams.
• Develop and execute yield-improvement strategies using NPI and production data.
• Define test coverage and specifications with R&D and Test Engineering.
• Analyze NPIs, DOE, pre/post-qualification data to evaluate yield and CpK.
• Mentor engineers and present technical reports to stakeholders.
