Job summary

Abbott Laboratories in the United States is seeking a Senior Principal Engineer – Operational Technology within Abbott Nutrition’s Manufacturing Technology team to lead IT/OT convergence and real-time data strategy for a global manufacturing network.

You will set governance standards for manufacturing assets, champion Industry 4.0 initiatives, and mentor cross‑functional teams while supporting 21 CFR Part 11 validation and complex programs across the Americas, Europe and Asia.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field.
• 10+ years of OT/IT and manufacturing experience.
• Familiarity with ISA standards and manufacturing IT systems.
• Experience presenting to plant staff through senior leaders.
• Technical background in health care or consumer goods preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead IT/OT convergence roadmap for global manufacturing with cross‑functional teams.
• Develop standards for governance of manufacturing asset data and security.
• Create a global strategy for real-time data visualization and reporting.
• Provide tech leadership on Front End Planning across large programs.
• Utilize hardware/software knowledge to design innovative solutions.
• Communicate and justify solutions to senior leadership; mentor others.
• Support Abbott Nutrition’s global production network and continuous improvement.
• Modernize legacy control systems and integrate with OT/IT architectures.
• Lead change in legacy environments and drive new technologies adoption.
• Design data governance for manufacturing systems and time-series data.
• Lead validation for manufacturing software per 21 CFR Part 11.
• Travel 25%–50% as part of the role.
