Job summary

Toast Tab, Inc. seeks a Senior Principal Software Engineer to lead the ML Platform and shape infrastructure powering Toast's AI and ML capabilities across products.

You will own architectural direction for scalable, reliable feature stores, model hosting, experimentation and training pipelines. You will mentor engineers and partner with ML researchers, data scientists, product, and infrastructure leadership to deliver high‑leverage platform initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 10+ years delivering large backend or infrastructure systems at scale.
• Experience building or operating core ML infrastructure (feature stores, model serving, experimentation, training).

Responsibilities

• Own technical direction of the ML Platform — feature store, model hosting and serving, experimentation, training infrastructure.
• Lead design and delivery of large‑scope platform initiatives from conception through production.
• Set and maintain a high engineering quality bar through hands‑on code contributions and reviews.
• Partner with ML engineering, data science, product, and platform leadership to translate ML strategy into roadmaps.
