Northrop Grumman Space Systems in Redondo Beach, CA is seeking a Senior Principal Engineer Mechanical to join our team. This in-person role requires deep space hardware expertise and leadership to coordinate IT&L and Manufacturing activities across complex programs.

The candidate will design and test mechanical systems, oversee technicians and engineers, and ensure compliance with program requirements while navigating a restricted production environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelors of Science in STEM plus 8 years of relevant experience OR Masters in STEM plus 6 years of relevant experience.
• Experience working on multi-disciplinary teams within Integration, Test, and Launch (IT&L) or Manufacturing environment.
• Must have active TS/SCI with in-scope SSBI and adjudicated polygraph; able to obtain SAP access.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for all aspects of procurement, manufacturing, integration, test and delivery for work package, including cost/schedule responsibility and technical excellence.
• Design tests to verify system requirements and drive producibility in design reviews.
• Develop detailed mechanical integration and test procedures for technicians to execute.
• Provide technical oversight to junior test engineers and manufacturing engineers; mentor and transfer knowledge.
• Document and remedy test anomalies and hardware non-conformances; coordinate across disciplines to define operations.
• Operate in a restricted production environment; act as deputy CAM; estimate task durations and budgets; ensure schedules are met.
• Demonstrate strong interpersonal, leadership, and organizational skills.
