Job summary

Sandia National Laboratories is seeking a Cleared Senior/Principal R&D Lead Mechanical Engineer to drive design, analysis, testing, and integration for the W76-1/-2 weapon system team. This onsite role requires leadership across multidisciplinary groups and deep knowledge of mechanical engineering and product realization within the NNSA complex.

You will design and analyze mechanical systems, lead trade studies, guide testing, and develop test configurations while collaborating with modeling,

Qualifications

• A bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline and five (5) years of directly relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of directly relevant education and engineering or scientific experience.
• Active DOE Q clearance or equivalent to start with the ability to participate, as requested, in random polygraph testing.
• Graduate degree in Mechanical Engineering or a highly related field is desirable.
• Experience with mechanical engineering and product realization in the NNSA complex.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design and analysis of systems and subsystems across the product lifecycle.
• Lead test configurations, system integration efforts, and large-scale system tests.
• Collaborate with modeling and simulation experts to inform design decisions.
• Author detailed test reports and present program status updates to management and customers.
