Job summary

Worley is seeking a Senior Principal Mechanical Engineer based in Charleston, WV to lead mechanical engineering for process and utility equipment across oil, gas, chemical, petrochemical, and power projects. You will supervise design teams, ensure compliance with standards, and drive safety-focused delivery across capital initiatives.

The role demands strong leadership, extensive experience, and a commitment to quality and continuous improvement in regulated environments.

Qualifications

• Must lead mechanical engineering activities from concept through execution.
• Strong knowledge of ASME, API and related standards.
• Proven ability to manage safety, quality, and schedule disciplines.
• Excellent communication across multi-disciplinary teams and clients.

Responsibilities

• Provide mechanical engineering leadership from concept through commissioning and oversight.
• Develop effort hours, schedules, staffing plans, and execution strategies; monitor progress and budgets.
• Report status to project teams, with periodic risk and opportunity assessments.
• Lead development and approval of specs, calculations, drawings, and deliverables for pressure vessels, exchangers, tanks, etc.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and Worley standards (HSE and quality).
• Lead technical bid evaluations, RFQs, and vendor coordination for timely delivery.
• Maintain knowledge of codes, standards, and emerging technologies for continuous improvement.
• Review shop drawings and support registrations and sign-offs as required.
• Identify and manage change affecting scope, cost, and schedule.
• Coach engineers and designers; provide technical guidance and development support.
• Represent mechanical discipline in client engagements, reviews, and QA activities.
• Collaborate across offices and time zones to deliver outcomes.
• Conduct site visits and field walkdowns; travel may be required.
