Job summary

Astera Labs is seeking a Sr. Principal Engineer - Field Applications to serve as a trusted technical partner for customers deploying high-speed connectivity solutions.

Based on site in San Jose, you will lead architecture through deployment and production support for Ethernet and PCIe platforms, coordinating with sales, product management, and engineering teams. You will own customer escalations, develop robust debug plans, analyze system telemetry and signal integrity issues, and mentor junior

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or related field required.
• 8–20 years in field applications or related domains.
• Deep hands-on experience with Ethernet and PCIe systems, high-speed SerDes, and test equipment.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical engagements with strategic customers from architecture definition through deployment and production support.
• Own customer escalations, establish action plans, and drive issues to closure with measurable outcomes.
• Present design recommendations, bring-up results, and tradeoffs to customer engineering and leadership.
• Develop and execute system-level debug plans for Ethernet and PCIe connectivity issues.
• Analyze physical-layer behavior, signal integrity, logs, and telemetry to isolate root causes.
• Mentor Field Applications Engineers and contribute to scalable enablement processes.
