Job summary

JetBlue is seeking a Senior Principal Engineer to drive engineering strategy, systems architecture, and platform modernization. You will shape global technology direction, evaluate revenue impacts through availability and performance, and mentor teams across Product Management, Architecture, DevOps, QA, and IT.

You will lead distributed design initiatives, build scalable architectures, and push for automation and cloud-native solutions across major cloud platforms.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related technical discipline.
• Six (6) years of software engineering experience, building highly scaled and distributed systems architecture.
• Six (6) years of professional full stack development using NodeJS, Java, and Angular.
• Demonstrated technical skills through a live work sample during the hiring process.
• Deep subject matter expertise and knowledge of modern software architecture, microservices, micro-frontends, serverless applications and frameworks.
• Subject matter expert with CI/CD pipeline and tools like Jenkins and Sonarqube. Has experience with GitOps.
• Subject matter expert with developing software applications in at least one major Cloud platform - Azure, GCP or AWS.
• Available for light to moderate overnight travel (less than 10%).
• Legal eligibility to work in the country of the position.

Responsibilities

• Provide meaningful impacts to revenue and customer experience through the technical development of the staff and our systems architecture.
• Provide thought leadership and collaboration across the organization through empirical analysis.
• Define problems autonomously and proactively own complex features and distributed designs.
• Present complex distributed designs across teams to align with architecture strategies.
• Develop designs and roadmaps influencing long-term implementations across teams.
• Drive a technology normalization strategy addressing technology drift.
• Develop, design, implement, and support large-scale digital experiences and cloud-native systems.
• Design, write, and implement platform automation for CI/CD and production tests.
• Mentor engineers on coding practices and design decisions.
• Evaluate new technologies with a customer-first approach.
• Analyze requirements and provide task-specific estimates.
• Participate in code reviews and agile ceremonies with global teams.
