Job summary

UL Solutions is seeking a Principal Engineer - Physical AI for its Consumer TIC division. You will lead AI assurance for physical products and cyber-physical systems, shaping standards, certification, testing, and advisory services.

The role is hybrid, requiring 3 days onsite at UL locations globally, with remote options for non-local candidates. You will collaborate across R&D, product, and customers to drive safe, trustworthy AI in robotics and smart devices.

Qualifications

• 15+ years in robotics, autonomous/systems engineering, or related fields.
• 5+ years direct experience with AI-enabled physical systems or robotics.
• Experience developing, integrating, testing, or validating AI-enabled physical systems in real-world environments.

Responsibilities

• Develop standards, certification, verification programs, and test criteria for AI-enabled physical products.
• Evaluate real-world system behavior including safety, risk, and lifecycle changes; identify fail-safes and mitigation paths.
• Create and launch customer-facing offerings like readiness assessments, evaluations, and advisory engagements.
• Act as a trusted technical advisor to regulators, standards bodies, and customers.
• Build global delivery capabilities through training and technical guidance.
