Job summary

UL Solutions seeks a Principal Engineer - Physical AI for Consumer TIC to lead AI assurance across robotics, autonomous systems, and embodied AI products. You will shape standards, certification programs, and testing methodologies while collaborating with R&D, product teams, and regulatory bodies.

You will drive customer-facing offerings like readiness assessments and autonomy evaluations, mentor global delivery teams, and represent UL Solutions in standards forums to advance safety and trust in

Qualifications

15+ years of technical experience in robotics, autonomous systems, embedded systems, cyber-physical systems, product safety, functional safety, or AI-enabled products.
5+ years of direct experience with AI-enabled physical systems, robotics, autonomy, or ML-enabled products.
Hands-on experience developing, integrating, testing, or validating AI-enabled physical systems in real-world environments.
Familiarity with robotics, safety, cybersecurity, and AI governance standards/regulatory frameworks.

Responsibilities

Develop standards, certification and verification programs, assessment methodologies, and test requirements for AI-enabled physical products.
Define methods to evaluate system behavior in real-world scenarios, including risk assessment and safety guarantees.
Develop customer-facing offerings such as readiness assessments, robotics evaluations, advisory engagements, and training programs.
Serve as a trusted technical advisor to regulators, standards bodies, and industry forums.
Build global delivery capability through evaluator training and guidance.
