Job summary

Docker is seeking a Senior Principal Engineer to serve as the technical visionary for Central Operations and Systems, defining architecture across internal AI, developer tools, infrastructure, reliability, and corporate systems. You will drive cross-team programs, set platform standards, and ensure tools enable Docker to operate as an AI-first company.

You will mentor senior engineers, participate in executive-level strategy, and shape the Docker SDLC across the organization, balancing

Qualifications

• 12+ years of software engineering experience across domains (SDLC, AI, corporate systems)
• Proven track record architecting large-scale distributed systems
• API design, service architecture and system integration at scale
• Experience with cloud platforms and modern infrastructure patterns (Kubernetes, IaC)
• Knowledge of security requirements and compliance frameworks (SOC 2, ISO 27001)
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience

Responsibilities

• Define and own the multi-year technical vision for Docker's Central Operations and Systems group
• Establish strategic plans and objectives for major initiatives and architectures
• Lead cross-team technical leadership and coordinate large programs
• Architect the Docker SDLC Golden Path for building, deploying, and managing systems
• Drive convergence of fragmented systems to shared platform capabilities
• Mentor Staff and Principal engineers and set architectural standards
