Medtronic is hiring a Senior Principal Software Engineer for our Coronary & Renal Denervation group in Minnesota. You will lead architecture and development of embedded software for next‑generation medical devices, collaborating with hardware, systems, QA, and regulatory teams.

The role requires deep hands‑on engineering, architectural leadership, and mentorship. The position is on‑site in Minneapolis with a strong emphasis on cross‑functional collaboration and adhering to IEC 62304 and related

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, engineering, or related technical discipline with 10+ years experience OR advanced degree with 8+ years experience.
• Experience developing medical device software.
• Strong expertise in programming languages (C++, Python, C#).
• Experience with various operating systems and tools (Linux, PetaLinux, Yocto, FreeRTOS).
• Experience with Containers and secure SDLC practices.

Responsibilities

• Architect, design, build, test and maintain embedded software for next‑gen medical devices.
• Provide architectural leadership and technical decision making.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams including HW, systems, QA and regulatory.
• Ensure security, privacy and regulatory compliance across software solutions.
• Drive continuous improvement and mentorship within the team.
