Job summary

Johnson Controls is seeking a Senior Principal Electronics Engineer to join its R&D facility in Westford, MA. You will design analog and digital electronic hardware for new fire alarm products and support existing lines, with opportunities to lead cross-functional teams and influence product development throughout the lifecycle.

The role requires 10+ years in electronics design, strong CAD tool experience, and a track record of bringing products from development to manufacturing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering or related field.
• 10+ years of electronics design involving analog, power, audio, or embedded systems.
• Strong knowledge of discrete electronic components and component-level circuit design.
• Experience with electronic CAD tools, including schematic capture and circuit simulation.
• Ability to collaborate effectively in a global, cross-functional team environment.
• Experience transitioning products from development into manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Design analog and digital electronics, including embedded systems.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to conceive, develop, and release new products into production.
• Lead hardware product development projects, ensuring specs, schedules, costs, and performance targets are met.
• Work in a collaborative team environment to develop innovative solutions for product needs.
• Lead cross-functional engineering teams with responsibility for cost, schedule, and design execution.
• Operate at component and system levels, including hardware design, software integration, packaging, and system architecture.
• Identify opportunities to improve internal processes and engineering procedures.
• Partner with Product Management to define and refine product requirements.
• Design products to meet applicable regulatory certifications (UL, ULC, CE, FCC).
