Job summary

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems in San Diego, CA (Rancho Bernardo) or Palmdale, CA, seeks a Principal Electronics Engineer or Sr Principal Electronics Engineer – Communications to join our team as a self-starter on a critical payloads subsystem project. The position requires on-site work with no remote option and travel up to 25%.

Candidates should have strong experience in SW development and RF/network integration, plus active Top Secret clearance and ability to obtain SCI and SAP

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s STEM degree with 5+ years of related engineering experience; or Master’s with 3+ years; or PhD with 1+ year.
• Sr. Principal: Bachelor’s with 8+ years; Master’s with 6+ years; PhD with 4+ years.
• Experience in hands-on SW development with Python, Java, C++, and MATLAB to enable data analysis.
• Experience in Communications and Network system integration.
• Experience with RF and network test equipment (oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, power meters).
• Technical development and systems integration experience.
• Experience with managing suppliers.
• Must have active US Government Top-Secret Clearance (BI within past 6 years or Continuous Evaluation).
• Ability to obtain/maintain US Government SCI clearance
• Ability to obtain SAP clearance in reasonable time.

Responsibilities

• Coordinating communication subsystem technical requirements to supplier management team.
• Managing suppliers to assess new technology and its viability to meet program requirements
• Conducting thorough trade studies and analyses to weigh the benefits/detriments of new communication hardware and software
• Collaborating with program management to build program schedules, assess risks and issues, and deliver technical recommendations
• Addressing and correcting deliverable subsystem performance concerns via program identified tools/systems
• Identifying opportunities for deliverable system improvement and working with engineering teams to implement
• Reporting Comms subsystem status to programmatic and technical team leadership and identifying risks/issues/concerns
• Providing direct user support, engineering expertise, and troubleshooting during test events
