Job summary

Advanced Energy is seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer to drive design, development, testing, and delivery of advanced power conversion products. You will work closely with customers to translate requirements into robust solutions, mentor engineers, and lead initiatives across global teams.

The role requires deep HV power electronics expertise, broad electronics design skills, and the ability to lead complex projects with a focus on reliability and safety.

Qualifications

• Comprehensive knowledge of kV high-voltage design practices.
• Expert-level knowledge of power electronics design.
• AC/DC and DC/DC switched‑mode power supply design.
• EMI/EMC design, analysis, and mitigation.
• Magnetic component design and optimization.
• Power component selection, including MOSFETs/GaN FETs.
• Feedback control analysis and control loop design.
• Discrete analog and digital circuit design.
• Embedded systems design using microcontrollers/FPGA.
• PCB layout, stack‑up design, noise mitigation.
• Proficiency with PSIM/SIMPLIS/PLECS or equivalent.
• Kalman filtering and Gaussian denoising techniques.
• Strong verbal/written/interpersonal communication.
• Ability to work independently and solve complex problems.

Responsibilities

• Design and analyze systems, products to spec, cost, schedule and quality goals.
• Diagnose issues across design, field performance, reliability, test yields.
• Own product/system success in customer applications and fix issues.
• Follow Product Development and ECO processes.
• Collaborate with manufacturing and supply chain to reduce cost and improve manufacturability.
