Job summary

Sandia National Laboratories in New Mexico seeks a highly independent R&D Electrical Engineer to lead a large, complex electrical engineering scope within the HDBT SI Program of Record. You will drive design, development, and integration of advanced electrical systems to support national security and nuclear deterrence capabilities.

The role requires a bachelor's degree and five years of experience, plus an active DOE Q clearance.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline and five (5) years of directly relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of directly relevant education and engineering or scientific experience that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform independent research and development.
  • Active DOE Q clearance or equivalent to start.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Complex Electrical Engineering Efforts: Drive the design, development, and integration of advanced electrical systems, proactively identifying and mitigating technical risks while managing multiple sub-team challenges.
  • Collaborate Across the Enterprise: Partner closely with diverse teams spanning Sandia, NNSA, Los Alamos National Laboratory, Kansas City National Security Campus, Pantex, and the U.S. Air Force to address complex technical and programmatic challenges.
  • Drive Strategic Technical Communication: Clearly articulate technical issues, options, and recommendations through compelling presentations and briefings, enabling informed decision-making at all levels.
  • Ensure System Engineering Excellence: Rigorously analyze system performance to ensure all designs meet or exceed stringent requirements, maintaining the highest standards of quality and reliability.
  • Define and Refine Requirements: Support the development and validation of functional and interface component requirements to ensure seamless system integration.
  • Make a National Impact: Your leadership and expertise will directly contribute to the safety, security, and reliability of the United States nuclear deterrent.
