Job summary

Baxter International Inc. in Round Lake, IL, is seeking an experienced Manufacturing Automation Engineer to improve process reliability and lead Industry 4.0 initiatives on a penicillin/cephalosporin site.

You will collaborate with Manufacturing, Operational Excellence, and Quality, own change control, validation, NCR/CAPA investigations, and drive digital transformation with PLCs, robotics, vision systems, and SCADA.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical or related discipline).
• 8+ years of relevant engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Onsite work in a Penicillin/Cephalosporin facility.
• Experience with PLCs, robotics, vision systems, and validation practices.
• Strong understanding of regulatory compliance and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Identify control system improvements and enhance equipment reliability.
• Develop and implement improvement strategies aligned with site priorities.
• Troubleshoot automated equipment to improve throughput, uptime, and repeatability.
• Advance the site’s digital transformation through Industry 4.0 initiatives.
• Lead NCR/CAPA investigations and implement corrective actions.
• Own change control activities for equipment and process modifications.
