Job summary

Sandia National Laboratories in Albuquerque, NM seeks a Mechanical Technologist to advance R&D on aerosolized threats. You will operate and maintain experimental equipment, perform complex analyses, and document findings, with minimal supervision.

This on-site role requires a Bachelor's in a STEM field, lab experience, and the ability to obtain a Q clearance; experience with aerosol science and safety documentation is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, electrical engineering, chemistry, physics or a STEM discipline.
• Demonstrated laboratory experience (i.e. experiment design, instrumentation setup, testing, monitoring/troubleshooting, detector calibrations, and data analysis)
• Experience with mechanical design principals and tools
• Ability to obtain a Q clearance

Responsibilities

• Conduct aerosol, filtration, chemical, optical, or physical experiments to assist scientists and engineers in the performance of R&D.
• Collaborate with technologists and staff to enhance technical capabilities in the department.
• Develop and optimize experimental processes in aerosol, filtration, and particle-laden flow sciences.
• Maintain safety documentation and comply with laboratory procedures.
• Serve as a laboratory owner, maintaining operational capabilities and safety documentation.
• Develop and maintain lab equipment interfaces for data acquisition.
• Prepare information for scientific and engineering publications.
