Job summary

Selby Jennings client, a leading $15bn+ global multi-strategy hedge fund, is seeking to hire into its rapidly expanding Primary Research function in New York. Analysts will generate differentiated, proprietary insights through industry engagement and data gathering to inform investment decisions across the platform.

You will collaborate with Portfolio Managers and investment teams, cover sectors such as TMT and Consumer, and shape a function embedded within a high‑performing equity research

Qualifications

• Experience within primary research, expert networks, channel checks, market research, equity research, consulting, or related investment research functions
• Demonstrated ability to gather, assess, and synthesize qualitative information
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills
• Intellectual curiosity and a genuine interest in financial markets and investing
• Sector expertise in Industrials, TMT, Consumer, or Healthcare is highly attractive
• A desire to work in a fast-paced, collaborative hedge fund environment

Responsibilities

• Conducting channel checks across relevant industries and supply chains
• Managing and executing expert network consultations
• Developing relationships with industry participants, competitors, customers, distributors, and suppliers
• Identifying and sourcing proprietary information streams
• Collaborating closely with investment professionals to answer key investment questions
• Helping design and execute primary research projects that directly influence investment outcomes
• Synthesizing qualitative findings into actionable insights for Portfolio Managers and analysts
