This one can flex. If you're deep in the analytical work today, it can be built at the Senior Pricing Analyst level. If you've been setting pricing direction and want the title to match, they'll bring it in as a Manager.
About the Role
An established industrial products company in Charlotte is hiring a pricing leader. They're adding a pricing expert to own pricing strategy and analysis for their largest and most complex customer contracts.
This is the person Sales leadership calls before they walk into a big negotiation. You'll build the models that frame those conversations, factoring in where the customer's next best alternative sits, what freight and logistics really cost to serve them, and what each scenario does to margin. Then you'll walk the sales team through it, pressure test the trade‑offs, and help them decide where to hold and where to move.
It's a rare mix of deep analytical work and real influence. The modeling matters, but so does being the person in the room who can explain it to a sales VP in plain language and be trusted on the answer.
The role reports to the Director of FP&A and works closely with Sales leadership and Commercial Finance.
The team is a sharp, collaborative group, and there is real visibility with commercial and finance leadership here.
What You'll Do
- Partner with Sales leadership to develop pricing strategy and recommendations for large, complex key account contracts and renewals.
- Build and maintain the pricing and negotiation models behind those accounts, incorporating competitive and next best alternative (NBA) positioning, logistics and freight costs, and margin impact.
- Lead model review calls with sales teams ahead of and during negotiations, walking through scenarios, trade‑offs and margin implications.
- Serve as a thought leader on pricing, bringing market, competitive and cost intelligence into both account‑level and portfolio‑level decisions.
- Analyze customer profitability, contract terms and price/mix trends to spot risks and opportunities across the key account portfolio.
- Own and maintain the contract database so pricing terms, escalators, volume commitments and renewal dates stay accurate and current.
- Track competitor pricing, market indices and logistics cost trends, and translate them into something the negotiating team can actually use.
- Partner with FP&A and Commercial Finance to keep key account pricing aligned with margin and EBITDA targets.
- Review contract outcomes against model assumptions after the fact and refine the methodology over time.
- Present pricing recommendations and negotiation outcomes to commercial and finance leadership.
What We’re Looking For
- 5 to 8 years in pricing, FP&A, commercial or sales finance, or another analytical seat supporting a commercial organization. More experience opens the door to the Manager level.
- Real financial modeling ability. This is the heart of the role. If you've built models that drove actual decisions, whether that was a deal, a pricing move or an operating plan, that experience carries over.
- Advanced Excel skills and comfort working with large data sets.
- Direct experience partnering with sales teams on contract negotiations, including presenting your analysis to people outside of finance and holding your own in the room.
- Clear communicator who can lead a model walkthrough and influence direction in real time.
- Analytical and detail-oriented, and comfortable working independently on high‑stakes, time‑sensitive deals.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Accounting or a related field.
Nice to Have, Not Required
- Exposure to industrial, mining, chemicals, building products or other commodity‑based businesses.
- Familiarity with freight and logistics cost structures and how they hit delivered margin.
- Power BI, OneStream or similar BI and reporting platforms.
- Any experience building or maintaining a contract management database.
Why This Role?
- Influence – You're not reporting on pricing after the fact, you're shaping the deal before it's signed.
- Visibility – Direct exposure to Sales leadership, Commercial Finance and executive leadership.
- Flex – The level and the title can be built around the right person.
- Growth – The company has many other areas of finance you can move into over time through internal mobility, including corporate FP&A, commercial finance and strategic finance.
- Flexibility – Hybrid schedule with 2 days onsite each week and 3 days from home.
Comp and Benefits
- Base salary of $110,000 to $150,000ish (flexible) depending on level, plus a 15% target bonus at the Manager level.
- Hybrid schedule, 2 days in the office and 3 from home.
- Excellent comprehensive benefits (Medical / Dental / Vision / Life and AD&D / Disability).
