Canopius is a global specialty lines (re)insurer with offices in the US and worldwide. The Actuarial team prices US commercial lines, collaborates with underwriters, and develops next‑generation models in Python, SQL and Excel.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in actuarial pricing for P&C, FCAS or equivalent, and strong statistical skills. The role offers a hybrid work model and opportunities to influence pricing strategy.

Qualifications

• 5-8+ years actuarial experience with pricing focus in P&C
• FCAS or related credential considered
• Experience pricing commercial lines including using statistical modelling techniques
• Ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-specialists

Responsibilities

• Own case pricing for US classes of business and influence risk selection
• Develop and maintain next-generation pricing models using Python, Excel, VBA, R and SQL
• Understand commercial lines products including Cyber, Professional lines and Marine
• Research pricing assumptions and market rates and communicate trends to US and global colleagues
• Deliver training to underwriters on pricing techniques
• Update pricing model parameters and add enhancements for accuracy and efficiency
• Proactively communicate findings to business partners
• Assist other teams in the Actuarial Function as needed
