Job summary

Canopius, a global specialty (re)insurer, seeks an experienced actuarial pricing professional in New York. You will price multi-million-dollar commercial deals, collaborate with underwriters, and help develop next-generation pricing models using Python, SQL and Excel.

The right candidate has 5+ years in commercial insurance actuarial roles, FCAS preferred, with P&C pricing experience. You will work with an international team and communicate complex ideas clearly to non-specialists.

Qualifications

• 5-8+ years of actuarial experience in commercial insurance pricing.
• FCAS or related experience considered for entry via student program.
• Experience in pricing P&C lines with statistical modelling.
• Ability to explain complex concepts to non-specialists.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of case pricing for US classes of business, influencing risk selection.
• Develop and maintain pricing models for US business using Python, Excel, VBA, R and SQL.
• Deeply understand commercial lines products including Cyber, Professional, and Marine.
• Research pricing assumptions and market rates; share insights with US and global teams.
• Deliver training to underwriters on technical pricing topics.
• Update model parameters and implement enhancements for accuracy.
• Proactively communicate findings to business partners in clear terms.
• Support other Actuarial teams as needed.
