Job summary

RRD is seeking an experienced prepress technician to review client files and prepare plates for press. You will work with customers and production to resolve issues, load customer files, and sometimes produce color proofs.

Proficiency in Mac-based prepress tools, Kodak Prinergy, and Adobe Creative Suite is required; strong color management and knowledge of standard file formats are essential for high-quality plate production.

Qualifications

• 5-7 years Mac experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Process color experience is required.
• Color correction and proofing experience a plus.
• Color management experience a plus.
• Variable data creation and editing skills.
• Must be able to work with various graphic design and layout software on Mac/PC.
• Two to Three years of Kodak Prinergy experience.
• Thorough understanding of digital file formats (pdf, tiff, eps) from Mac/PC.
• Experience with imposition software (Mac) and Adobe Creative Suite (PC).
• Advanced color management skills and understanding of how one color affects another.
• Ability to output digital files to various output devices; willingness to learn new graphics software.

Responsibilities

• Review electronic files for thoroughness and completeness before plate making.
• Operate Mac-based prepress software to prepare plates.
• Identify missing or problematic components and communicate with Customer Service Rep and production.
• Load customer files for output during manufacturing.
• May prepare color proofs for customer review.
• May impose images and operate plate making and tabbing equipment.
• Perform quality checks on finished plates before release to manufacturing.
