Brasfield & Gorrie, LLC is seeking a Senior Preconstruction Manager - Mechanical to provide expert mechanical estimating and preconstruction leadership across regions. The role supports pursuit strategy, feasibility studies, and owner/design team discussions with budgeting guidance and procurement insight.

You will partner with senior managers to validate scope, pricing, and risk on large projects, while refining procurement strategies and maintaining key vendor relationships.

Qualifications

• 10+ years experience in mechanical estimating, preconstruction, or subcontracting.
• Deep knowledge of mechanical systems, installation methods, and production rates across MEP scopes.
• Strong vendor market knowledge and established relationships; clear communication.
• Experience developing conceptual/schematic budgets for large or complex projects.
• Proficiency with estimating software and MS Office; capable as a department-wide resource.

Responsibilities

• Serve as internal mechanical SME for active pursuits and projects.
• Develop conceptual and schematic mechanical budgets to support early pursuit and feasibility studies.
• Validate mechanical scope, pricing assumptions, and risk on large projects with lead preconstruction managers.
• Support procurement strategies including trade packaging, early releases, and RFP/bid leveling.
• Advise on market conditions, production rates, vendor capabilities, and buyout strategy.
• Maintain relationships with mechanical trade partners and vendors to support procurement decisions.
• Develop and deliver internal training on mechanical systems, estimating practices, and budgeting.
• Capture and maintain historical cost data and benchmarking metrics to improve estimates.
• Participate in project reviews, estimate reviews, and risk assessments as a mechanical advisor.
• Stay current on mechanical costs, systems, codes, and market trends.
• Travel may be necessary for regional support.

Responsibilities

The Senior Preconstruction Manager - Mechanical is a mechanical subject-matter expert who serves as a resource for Brasfield & Gorrie’s preconstruction departments across all our regions. This role will support precon managers across projects by providing mechanical specific expertise, conceptual budgeting guidance, procurement strategy, vendor relationship knowledge, and training.

Responsibilities And Essential Duties Include The Following

• Serve as the preconstruction department's internal mechanical subject-matter expert, providing support on active pursuits and projects
• Develop conceptual and schematic-level mechanical budgets to support early pursuit strategy, feasibility studies, and owner/design team conversations
• Partner with lead preconstruction managers to validate mechanical scope, pricing assumptions, and risk areas on complex or large, high-risk projects
• Help implement and refine procurement strategies, including trade packaging, early release packages, design-assist, RFP Development and bid leveling support
• Leverage prior experience to advise on mechanical market conditions, production rates, vendor capabilities, and buyout strategy
• Maintain and grow relationships with mechanical trade partners and vendors to support market intelligence and procurement decisions company-wide
• Develop, teach, and deliver internal training on mechanical systems, estimating best practices, and conceptual budgeting for the broader preconstruction team
• Capture, standardize, and maintain historical mechanical cost data, production rates, and benchmarking metrics from completed projects to improve the accuracy of future conceptual estimates
• Participate in project reviews, estimate reviews, and risk assessment meetings as a mechanical advisor
• Stay current on mechanical costs, systems, codes, technologies, and market trends
• Travel may be necessary depending on project and regional support needs

Qualifications

Education - Skills - Knowledge - Qualifications & Experience

• Minimum of 10 years of experience in mechanical estimating, subcontracting, or mechanical preconstruction, ideally including experience working for a mechanical subcontractor or vendor
• Deep knowledge of mechanical systems, installation methods, and production rates across mechanical & plumbing scopes
• Strong working knowledge of mechanical vendor and subcontractor markets, with established relationships and clear vendor communication skills
• Demonstrated experience developing conceptual/schematic-level mechanical budgets and estimates, particularly on large or complex projects
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to organize and maintain historical cost data and benchmarking metrics
• Proficiency with estimating and preconstruction software and Microsoft Office products
• Self-directed and comfortable operating as a department-wide resource rather than a single-project team member
