Job summary

McCownGordon Construction in Dallas seeks an experienced Estimator to join the preconstruction team. You will assist the Lead Estimator, lead smaller projects, and train entry‑level estimators.

You will develop budgets, participate in GMP development, manage bids, and coordinate with design teams and trade partners. A Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or Engineering and 5+ years in estimating are required. This role emphasizes proactive problem solving and collaboration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years' experience in Estimating or Preconstruction.
• Proficiency with estimating software including Sage/Timberline Estimating and On-Screen Take Off.
• Experience leading projects and coordinating with design teams.
• Strong budgeting knowledge and proactive issue management.
• Familiarity with bid processes and GMP development.

Responsibilities

• Manages project estimates and coordinates with the project team during preconstruction.
• Assists or leads communication with design teams and clients to clarify unknowns.
• Participates in owner and project meetings and contributes to schedules.
• Develops understanding of planning, permitting, utilities, and sequencing with project scheduling.
• Develops preconstruction schedules and cost strategies.
• Assists in establishing estimates, budgets, and review processes prior to submittals.
• GMP development, bid tab sheets, and trade partner coordination.
• Builds and maintains relationships with trade partners and design teams.
• Identifies risks and proposes mitigation strategies.
