Job summary

Tenneco is seeking an experienced R&D / Product Development Engineer to lead design, validation, and continuous improvement of powertrain products. You will collaborate with customers, suppliers, and global teams across the full development cycle, from concept through production launches, ensuring robust, manufacturable solutions.

The role emphasizes hands-on engineering, strong fundamentals in tribology, materials, and sealing, and a global, cross-functional work environment that values quality

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials, Metallurgical, Automotive, or related discipline.
• 5+ years of relevant engineering experience.
• Experience developing mechanical products from concept through validation and production.
• Strong mechanical-engineering fundamentals and analytical problem-solving skills.
• Working knowledge of materials, fatigue, tribology, friction and wear, lubrication, sealing, and related topics.
• Experience with DFMEA and DVP&R.
• Root-cause analysis and structured problem solving capability.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and technical data.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop new and improved powertrain products from concept through production.
• Translate requirements into product requirements and specifications.
• Develop solutions improving performance, durability, reliability, efficiency, manufacturability, and cost.
• Apply fundamentals across mechanics, materials, thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid mechanics, fatigue, tribology, and sealing.
• Lead cross-functional NTI development processes and APQP activities to ensure readiness.
• Develop and maintain product-development timing plans and capital expenditure estimates.
• Collaborate with customers, suppliers, manufacturing, quality, purchasing, and global teams.
