Job summary

Hyundai America Technical Center, Inc. (HATCI) is seeking a Senior Powertrain Engineer to calibrate and validate transmission and powertrain performance for the North American market.

You will use in-vehicle testing, customer research, and data analysis to define targets and improve drivability across ICE, HEV, and PHEV platforms. The role demands strong analytical skills, experience with ETAS/Vector tools and MATLAB/Simulink, and the ability to manage multiple calibration projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 8+ years of automotive testing, calibration, or controls development.
• Experience in powertrain controls calibration/logic development.
• Expertise in powertrain systems and validation processes.
• Strong understanding of ICE and HEV powertrains and vehicle dynamics.

Responsibilities

• Define transmission performance targets for brand and powertrain segments.
• Develop calibration for HEV, PHEV and ICE for NA.
• Lead proving ground and on-road test and calibration activities.
• Formulate countermeasure strategies to improve drivability.
• Support creation of test procedures and calibration guides.
• Release calibration documents to calibration manager.
• Lead validation of vehicle performance in extreme conditions.
• Ensure drivability development adheres to quality standards.
• Manage vehicle test events and cross-functional tests.
• Support NA HQ with EV drivability inquiries and issues.
• Assist in root cause analysis and corrective actions.
