Job summary

WECTEC Staffing Services in the United States is seeking a senior electrical engineer to lead Power Uprate projects, perform detailed power system analyses, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.

You will develop ETAP models, coordinate with operations and design teams, mentor engineers, and deliver auditable calculations and reports supporting licensing and project goals.

This remote role requires strong technical leadership and experience in nuclear or large fossil/hydro environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field.
• 8+ years of engineering experience in power generation, utilities, or heavy industry.
• Experience performing power system studies and electrical calculations.
• Hands-on experience with ETAP (or SKM/PSCAD/PowerWorld).
• Strong knowledge of plant electrical distribution systems and grid interconnections.
• Leadership experience on complex technical projects.
• PE license preferred or ability to obtain.
• Experience supporting plant Power Uprates or major capacity modifications.
• Arc flash, protection coordination, and short circuit analysis expertise.
• Familiarity with nuclear or large fossil/hydro generation environments.
• Regulatory requirements affecting electrical systems (NERC compliance, licensing).
• Advanced analytical skills in power system modeling and simulation.
• ETAP expertise and related tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering efforts for Power Uprate projects, including feasibility studies and design.
• Serve as the technical authority on uprate strategies and system impacts.
• Mentor engineering staff in electrical system analysis and modeling.
• Develop and review engineering calculations and design modifications.
• Coordinate with operations, maintenance, and design engineering.
• Support outage planning and execution for electrical modifications.
• Ensure regulatory compliance and prepare technical submittals.
• Create ETAP models and review reports for decisions.
